ACCESS
Question:
Will ACCESS students earn credit for the courses they complete?
Answer:
Credits earned as a nondegree student may apply toward degree requirements once a student is admitted to a undergraduate or graduate degree program. However, the schools and colleges establish applicability of these credits toward degree requirements and limits plus transfer credit criteria may vary by department.
Students may also request to take an ACCESS course for pass/fail or no-credit when they register using web registration, or by completing a Pass/Fail, No-Credit Request form at the Continuing Education Center. Tuition is the same, whether or not the course is taken for credit, pass/fail or no credit.

CUBIC
Question:
Who is eligible to participate?
Answer:
Students in their junior or senior year at any accredited university or college are eligible. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and 60 or more credit hours. Areas of study can include, but are not limited to, liberal arts, physical and natural sciences, music and art, and engineering. Business students are not eligible, as the program is designed for non-business majors.
Question:
Can I earn university credit?
Answer:
No, CUBIC is designed to provide an intensive high-level introduction to business for motivated students without the need for individual evaluation and testing. The CUBIC program does not offer university credit because it is not intended to be a substitute for regular university courses.
Question:
What is the certificate I will earn?
Answer:
Students successfully completing the CUBIC program will earn a Certificate in Applied Business from the University of Colorado at Boulder. This certificate is an indication to potential employers that you understand the fundamentals of business.
Question:
What requirements must be met in order to earn a certificate?
Answer:
High levels of preparation and participation are expected. In unusual cases, a student who is consistently absent, unprepared or who refuses to participate in class will be counseled to withdraw from the program and will not earn the certificate. Such students will be given ample warning and opportunity to correct behavior during the program.

Question:
How many students are in a class?
Answer:
Class size is limited to 50 students. This is the normal size for undergraduate business classes at the University of Colorado and is substantially smaller than classes at other comparable universities. We find that this size is large enough to promote a diversity of opinion and discussion, but small enough to allow individual attention from instructors and staff.

Question:
Are exams, homework or grades given?
Answer:
There is homework, but no tests or letter grades will be given. Homework assignments will be designed to illustrate business concepts and provide a basis on which to build knowledge. Typical assignments may include preparing a business case, running a business simulation, designing a new product, or building a marketing strategy. Homework assignments will be stimulating and thought provoking, not busy-work paper and pencil exercises.

High School Concurrent
Question:
What is the High School Concurrent Program?
Answer:
High school students, and in some cases junior high students, interested in the challenge of university course work enroll in credit courses through Continuing Education to earn concurrent high school and college credit. Eligible high school juniors and seniors also have the opportunity to receive tuition reimbursement as well as concurrent credit for up to two college level courses each Fall and Spring term under the Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) Act.
Question:
What is the Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) Act?
Answer:
In 1988, the State of Colorado enacted the Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) Act (HB 1244) to provide higher education opportunities for high school students. Some modifications were made to this act in 1993 (HB 1326) and again in 1998 (HB 1162). According to the Act, high school juniors and seniors under the age of 21 may register college level courses each Fall and Spring semesters and request tuition reimbursement for successful completion of up to two courses each term. Students must notify their high school counselor and school district of their intention to enroll at least 60 days prior to the beginning of each term.
Question:
How do students know if they are eligible for enrollment and reimbursement?
Answer:
Questions regarding eligibility should be directed to the students high school counselor or the district superintendents office (Boulder Valley School District 303-447-5089, Saint Vrain Valley School District 303-682-7205). Students must apply and register for the High School Concurrent program each term they wish to enroll and must maintain a CU cumulative grade point average of 2.0 to remain eligible.
Question:
What if students are not eligible for PSEO?
Answer:
Students not eligible under PSEO guidelines or whose course(s) is not approved for PSEO, will not be reimbursed but may still be able to register for college level courses and receive college credit with permission of their high school counselor and parent/guardian. Regardless of their eligibility, students planning to take college level courses must still follow the policies and procedures of the High School Concurrent Program.
Question:
What do students need to do to register for courses?
Answer:
The first step is to submit the Statewide Agreement between Colorado School District and a Colorado College High School Concurrent Enrollment form provided by the student's high school or by Continuing Education to their high school counselor. This form serves as the necessary authorization for them to participate in the High School Concurrent Program and, if eligible, be reimbursed for their college tuition. The district will notify Continuing Education of their eligibility to enroll.
The second step is to complete the High School Concurrent form and return this form to Continuing Education. This form provides notice of the students intent to register for classes at the University of Colorado at Boulder and receive concurrent high school and college credit. Students approved for Postsecondary Enrollment Options must enroll through ACCESS for Boulder Main Campus classes to be eligible for reimbursement.
Question:
Who determines the students ability to enroll in college courses?
Answer:
Students work in consultation with their parent or guardian and their high school counselors to choose courses appropriate for their experience and background. This is especially important in sequential courses like mathematics, science and foreign languages. After the add deadlines for the ACCESS and Boulder Evening Programs, high school counselors will review student course schedules. Continued enrollment is contingent upon final approval of their counselor.
Question:
Are students responsible for their tuition?
Answer:
Students are responsible for paying their tuition by the deadlines established by Continuing Education. Students who are eligible for PSEO and receive prior approval for their courses will be reimbursed by their school district at the end of the term for the successful completion of up to two courses. If they register for courses in addition to those for which they received approval, or for courses that have not received prior approval, they will be responsible for their tuition. The district will not reimburse for course fees, books, supplies, transportation and other expenses associated with their university coursework. Reimbursement request forms are usually available from their high school registrar. They are required to provide proof of their tuition payment and a transcript showing successful completion of their coursework. Some districts require that requests for reimbursement be made within 90 days of the end of the semester.
